SOMETHING SAVORY
Now Cowboy Caviar goes by many names. I heard Mixed Bean Dip, Texas Caviar, etc. Whatever you want to go with, it’s still going to be delicious and crowd-pleasing.
It’s protein-packed, flavorful + hearty, and paired with taco chips…Mmm! It’s crunchy and munchy. :)
It’s full of protein-packed beans (and chicken if you go that route), and colorful vegetables in a creamy broth with a little kick. A great alternative to heavy, tomato-based chilis, this version could be described as a mix between tortilla soup and chili.
A crispy baked potato shell stuffed with light, fluffy mashed potatoes and topped with melted vegan cheese! Mmm!
Twice-Baked Potatoes look impressive yet are quite simple to make. It’s more of a waiting game (waiting for the potatoes to bake, that is) then actual technique so a win-win if you’re not proficient in the kitchen.
A little bit of savory, sweet and spicy in each bite. Serve with chips for dipping or add a side of rice.
One of the easiest items to upgrade, hummus makes the perfect snack or appetizer. And since hummus already comes in a variety of flavors, it can mach whatever vibe you’re feeling that day. Today we were feeling Mediterranean and used pine nut hummus as the base!
And probably by now you’ve recognized LeBraun’s and I’s obsession with Asian cuisine + flavors. With that in mind we present to you an easy, delicious Meatless Monday meal—Gluten-Free, Vegan Lettuce Wraps!
Most people instantly think of P.F. Chang’s lettuce wraps and they were definitely used to inspire this meal.
The sweet + savory sauce is a punch of flavor while the crisp leaves and water chestnuts adds a cool, fresh crunch. Yin and yang in true Asian fashion.
It’s spicy, creamy, and stuffed with crab. Essentially all the best foods in one delish dip!
Serve it with a variety dippers for a snack or appetizer…or SNACKATIZER!
For a Louisiana twist we’re using Chachere and TABASCO, brands well ingrained in Louisiana culture.
Let’s spice it up a bit this year with this colorful blend of crisp veggies!
After all who could resist the crunch of the corn, tang of the vinegar, and kick of the jalapeños…Mmm! If you don’t like it, no worries, more for me!
Serve as a dip with chips or as a fresh new topping on Taco Tuesday!
Despite often eating it as my actual meal, it’s makes quite a great crowd-pleasing, large portions, easy to prepare appetizer or snack for a group get together (especially with football season kicking off, literally).
Crunchy, creamy, and oh-so-satisfying! This dip’s got flavor on flavor. It’s easy to prepare and a great savory dish to hit the-“I’m craving pub food”-spot.
Sometimes you eat a dip and think, “this is delicious, but I have no idea what’s in it.” Maybe that’s just me, but either way you can identify everything that is in this one so no need to worry.
Plus there are vegetables in this so it’s not a total diet buster. :) At least that’s what I like to tell myself occasionally. :)
It’s a fact of life that dads love beer and what pairs better with beer than a fresh soft pretzel. Truth is, not much! I find myself craving them at fairs, sporting events, and malls, especially since I can’t have them. It makes me want them that much more!
Gluten-free, dairy-free soft pretzels have been a struggle for me over the years. Always either too dry, too crumbly, too tough…But this one may be the one! I’ve tried it several times now and it continues to yield fantastic, chewy pretzels.
Since the pretzels are salted I prefer a sweet glaze for dipping, but if you prefer something more savory, I would recommend mustard or marinara sauce. Both delicious!
I really love the ease of chili. Throw everything in a big pot and let it simmer. Fresh vegetables, legumes, seasonings…Chili is really all about what you want it to be.
Plus it can feed a crowd or leave you with leftovers for a few days. HOORAY! :) Chili is an excellent way to clean out your fridge and pantry. Got some extra carrots on hand? Add them in. Don’t have all the seasonings? Try adding a packet of GF taco seasoning.
The key to making kick-ass chili is allowing the flavors to meld, which means browning the vegetables first then cooking it low and s-l-o-w. The best part is that this recipe can be prepared stove top or in the slow cooker.
Serve with a side of garlic bread or cornbread, and we’ve got the perfect Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free Cornbread for ya!
Elotes, more commonly known as Mexican street corn to us English speakers, is a classic street treat. Juicy corn, charred then slathered in a creamy chili-lime sauce and sprinkled with cheese. If that sentence didn't make you want to try some, then I will have to reevaluate our friendship. :)
SOMETHING SWEET
What is a show without popcorn?!
Mix it up with this sweet & salty take on a gourmet-style popcorn. The sweetness of the caramel, the saltiness of the popcorn, the crunch of the roasted nuts and the melt-iness of the chocolate will have you wondering how you can sneak some in on your next trip to the theatre.
So here’s where we are at: Chocolate chip cookies + marshmallows = YUM!
Each bite is sweet, melty, creamy, and simply scrumptious. Can you hear that Hallelujah choir?
So to recap, these cookies…well—They’ve got chocolate chips. They’ve got marshmallows. They’re gluten-free. They’re vegan. ‘Nuff said.
Every holidays calls for cake, right?
Well this one is the easiest recipe ever—yellow Space Cake!
Growing up we always called this recipe “Space Cake” because each slice is light and airy. Though either way I’m sure it could satisfy some those munchies! :)
Each bite is like eating the fluffiest, most softest cloud. But it’s a cake. A cake come from space to do a heavenly dance on our taste buds.
The cinnamon-sugar sprinkled on top just puts it over the top. Drooling
Bake something really irresistible this week like these Seven Layer Magic Bars!!!
Why magic bars? Because the magically disappear!
Seriously, a buttery crust topped with sweet, crunchy, melted, gooey goodness! How could they not?
Each bite a little sweet + a little salty.
They are so easy to make + so rich that you’ll understand the saying “living your best life” for real.
