There’s no shortage of neon in the desert oasis, entertainment capital, and adult playground that is Las Vegas, Nevada, but none are as widely recognized or ubiquitous as the landmark Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign. In 1959 the city was already brimming with neon signs advertising casinos and hotels so the owner of the small, local Western Neon Co. decided there should be a neon sign advertising the city itself. It was designed by Betty Willis in the Googie architectural style with 1950s-style cursive. It’s now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Everyday queues form of friends, families, buck/hen parties, weekend visitors, and more to take their photo with this iconic sign. We definitely took our photo by the sign on our first trip to Vegas, baby! And now this illustration will be the one thing that doesn’t “stay in Vegas.”
