Vegas Vic // Las Vegas
HOWDY PODNER!!! The neon cowboy affectionately known as Vegas Vic was erected on the exterior of The Pioneer Club in Las Vegas in 1951. It was the first major neon work in Las Vegas that wasn’t typeface based. In his heyday Vic welcomed visitors to the casino with a friendly wave, a moving cigarette, and a recoding of “Howdy Podner!” every 15 minutes.
The sign can still be found at its original location on Fremont Street although The Pioneer Club closed in 1995.
