Spite House // Alexandria, VA

$45.00

Tiny homes are becoming increasingly popular but the “Spite House” on Queen Street in the Old Town district of Alexandria, Virginia was way ahead of its time! Built in 1830, the blue house sandwiched between the white and red ones is a two story, 325 square foot small home lover’s dream. Structurally it’s more of an enclosed alley than a house. The owner of one of the adjacent houses built the house to keep rowdy loiters and horse-drawn wagons out of his alley. Thus the house became known as the “Spite House.” Measuring at just 7 feet wide, Ripley’s Believe It or Not named it the narrowest house in America.

If you’re already wandering the picturesque streets of Old Town, it’s worth a detour to check out this cutie!
