Saint Basil's Cathedral // Moscow
Saint Basil's Cathedral // Moscow
$45.00
Built from 1555-61 on orders from Ivan the Terrible to commemorate the capture of Kazan and Astrakhan, Saint Basil’s Cathedral is recognized worldwide by its unique shape (designed as a bonfire flame rising into the sky), vividly colored domes and ornate details.
But did you know it was decommissioned as a church back in 1928 and since has operated as a division of the State Historical Museum. A visit to Red Square is a must-do experience when in Moscow. It was surreal standing in front of this elaborate architectural masterpiece.
