With it’s iconic dome, the chapel on the campus of The United States Naval Academy, is a tried-and-true fixture of the Annapolis, Maryland skyline. Completed in 1908, it was designed in the Beaux-Arts style of the USNA campus and now features a copper-sheathed dome, a 268-rank organ, and beautiful (and symbolic) stained-glass windows.

Traditionally, new third-class midshipmen become "Youngsters" when they sight the chapel dome upon returning from their summer cruise. The chapel also hosts Protestant and Catholic services and weddings of Naval Academy alumni, faculty, and active-duty military serving in Annapolis. A brief tour of the chapel’s interior is included in the guided USNA tour (which is fantastic, educational, and interesting by the way!)

The USNA Chapel dome continues to serve as a point of reference for midshipmen, locals, and visitors alike, while this illustration will always bring your back to the beauty, discipline, and tradition of Annapolis and your time spent in “The Yard.”
