The plantation home of the founding father, military leader, and first President of the U.S., George Washington & his wife Martha, on the banks of the Potomac just south of the nation’s capital.

Visitors can tour his loose Palladian style estate including the Colonial Revival gardens that grew the household vegetables, the interior which has mostly been restored to what is was during the Washingtons’ occupancy, and this founding father’s final resting place in the old family vault on the property. Don’t miss the sprawling porch overlooking the Potomac! It’s the perfect place to enjoy the view and pay respect to the “Father of his Country.”
