Ford's Theatre // Washington, D.C.
On April 14, 1865, President and Mrs. Lincoln were attending a performance of “Our American Cousin” at Ford’s Theatre located in downtown Washington, D.C. (located at 511 10th St. NW) when actor/Confederate sympathizer John Wilkes Booth fatally shot the leader in the back of the head.
Most recently revamped in 2010, visitors can tour the theatre, catch a performance, explore the museum (which is awesome by the way!), and wander to The Petersen House - the boarding house across the street were the President was brought to after he was attacked and where he died the next morning.
“Our American Cousin” is the only play the theatre will never put on again.
