Christ Church // Old Town Alexandria
Christ Church // Old Town Alexandria
This beautiful American Colonial era Episcopal church is located in charming Old Town Alexandria. It was completed in February 1773 but renamed to its current Christ Church in 1816. Fortunately the interior was unscathed unlike most during the Civil War and remains a fine example of colonial architecture. George Washington, Henry Lee, Robert E. Lee, and Charles Simms are just a few of the church’s notable parishioners and until the 21st century, it was tradition for sitting presidents to attend a service.
